As we continue to grow Veres Family Health Clinic within the new Stelmach Community Health Centre, we are seeking an experienced and passionate Behavioural Health Consultant (RPN or MSW) to join our interdisciplinary team.

About the Role
As the Behavioural Health Consultant, you will serve as the clinic's primary behavioural health resource, providing patient consultations, brief interventions, education, counselling support, and care coordination for individuals and families experiencing mental health, emotional, behavioural, and psychosocial challenges.
Working alongside physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and community partners, you will support patients in achieving meaningful health goals while improving access to mental health services in primary care.

What You'll Do
Clinical Care
- Conduct behavioural health assessments and patient consultations.
- Provide brief counselling, coaching, and solution-focused interventions.
- Support patients experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, stress, life transitions, caregiver burden, chronic disease adjustment, and other behavioural health concerns.
- Assist patients in developing practical and achievable wellness goals.
- Complete risk assessments and safety planning when appropriate.
- Connect patients with community programs, resources, and specialized services.
Interdisciplinary Team-Based Care
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and clinic staff.
- Participate in case conferences, care planning, and team huddles.
- Provide behavioural health consultation and support to colleagues.
- Contribute to a culture of integrated, patient-centred care.
Program Development & Wellness
- Support the growth and development of behavioural health programming.
- Facilitate patient education sessions, wellness workshops, and group programming.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives that enhance patient care and access.
What You'll Bring Education & Registration
One of the following
Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN)
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA)
OR Master of Social Work (MSW)
- Registered and in good standing with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW)
Experience
- Experience providing mental health assessments, counselling, and patient consultations.
- Strong knowledge of behavioural health and community resources.
- Experience working within interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Primary care experience is considered an asset.
- Experience facilitating groups, workshops, or patient education programs is welcomed.
