:
- To organize, develop, coordinate and implement a variety of brain injury prevention and awareness programs.
- To provide education and resources to brain injury survivors and their families and to community groups and organizations.
- To support and facilitate survivor involvement in community events, programs, and special interest projects.
What does that look like?
- You will be working with survivor volunteers and supporting their participation in a variety of projects and activities.
- You will be visiting schools to present to classrooms, with small groups of brain injury survivors, and delivering presentations to workplaces and groups.
- You will be representing CBIA in public at events.
- You will be contacting teachers, principals, and community partners to book presentations, as well as reaching out to and registering survivors in CBIA.
- You will be highly independent, need to make good independent decisions and be a self starter.
Education, training & experience
- Education, health, or social service-related degree or diploma preferred
- Valid British Columbia Class 5 drivers license
- A clean criminal record
- You will need your own vehicle. We pay mileage.
Skills & abilities
- You must be a self-starter and willing to take responsibility for the success of your programs.
- You must have good public speaking and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to organize & prioritize.
- Demonstrated the ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.
- Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
Zoom and Publisher or the Google Suite
- Research knowledge, skills, and experience.
- Excellent written communication
- Experience with volunteer organizations and community boards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide information on brain injury and injury prevention to individuals (survivors, families and professionals) as requested.
- Contact and arrange presentations with schools and the community.
- Meet with survivors and their families to provide them with information specific to their situation.
- Attend events within the community and run display booths/workshops.
- Schedule and support survivor volunteers to attend presentations, staff booths, sell raffle tickets
- Work closely with survivors of brain injury
- Work closely with our social work team on internal referrals
- Interview for, and supervise, students for summer position
- Research information and keep information brochures current.
- Actively seek educational opportunities
- Get along with our team
- Any other duties that arise - our association has a lot of variety, so you will help at the Christmas party, the summer BBQ and various odd things that happen along the way
- The position is part time.
A few hours a month to start. We can discuss how that works out for you.
