Job Title: Material Handler The Material Handler works in a fast-paced warehouse and manufacturing environment to move, store, and accurately track electronic components and other materials. This role focuses on safe forklift and material handling equipment operation, precise inventory control in the ERP system, and timely support of production activities while maintaining a clean, organized, and safety-focused workspace. The facility is transit-accessible, and you will enjoy perks such as complimentary coffee and tea, social events, and occasional breakfasts and snacks.
There is potential for contract extension and the opportunity to transition into a permanent role, which would include a competitive benefits package with medical and dental coverage, vacation, and additional offerings to be determined. The culture emphasizes respect, inclusivity, skill development through cross-training, and a collaborative, head-down team approach that supports both personal growth and operational excellence. This role is based in a large, organized, and clean production and warehouse facility with multiple departments on the production floor.
The environment is generally quiet to moderate, though it can be louder during morning shifts due to operating machinery and equipment and quieter in the afternoon. Employees may occasionally be exposed to dust, solder, metals, higher noise levels, and physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts, with appropriate protective equipment provided. The standard shift runs Monday to Friday, typically from 7:00 a.m. with potential overtime and flexible hours during busy periods.
The work involves regular use of stand-up reach forklifts, manual and powered pallet jacks, RF scanners, ERP systems, reel counters, scales, and other material handling and packaging tools. The culture supports a head-down, team-focused approach with a positive attitude and opportunities for cross-training across departments. The dress code includes wearing a provided smock on the production floor, shoe covers, ear plugs, and goggles as required, along with safety-toe footwear to ensure personal safety while working around equipment and materials.
Load and unload pallets and other parts from shelves, racking, trucks, boxes, containers, and carts using manual and powered pallet jacks and other material handling equipment. Safely operate a stand-up reach forklift in accordance with all safety and compliance standards in a fast-paced warehouse and manufacturing environment. Maintain organized inventory by location, count, and status, ensuring accurate cycle counts and stock integrity.
Transact all material movements in the ERP system to match physical movement of parts and maintain accurate records. Accurately pick, count, label,
and transact parts for production operations according to pick lists and ad hoc requests. Expedite materials and transactions to support manufacturing operations and minimize production delays.
Maintain and deliver in-process inventory to point-of-use workstations on the production floor. Verify and receive materials against purchase orders in the ERP system, ensuring accuracy of quantities and part numbers. Use reel counters and scales to accurately count inventory, particularly for electronic components and fragile materials.
Apply appropriate packaging and handling methods to protect materials from damage, including electrostatic discharge prevention and handling of moisture-sensitive parts. Store and organize parts following material handling guidance such as FIFO, locator organization, and weight considerations. Verify inventory computations by comparing system records to physical stock counts and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors as needed.
Verify, reconcile, and transact materials returned from manufacturing to maintain accurate inventory levels. Process inventory adjustments in the ERP system while following the appropriate approval hierarchy. Select the correct pockets and tape for tape-and-reel packaging to ensure proper presentation to production.
Collaborate closely with team members, production staff, and other departments to ensure smooth material flow across the facility. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned to support warehouse, shipping and receiving, and production operations. At least 1 year of relevant experience in inventory or warehouse work.
At least 1 year of stand-up reach forklift experience.
Valid
Class 2 forklift certification. Hands-on experience with material handling, including loading, unloading, picking, packing, and general warehouse labor.
Experience operating stand-up forklifts and using manual and powered pallet jacks. Proficiency with ERP systems for inventory transactions and material movement. Basic computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office applications.
Proficient
English communication skills, both written and verbal. Robust attention to detail with excellent organizational skills and the ability to work as a self-starter with minimal supervision.
