CAD Detailer – Retail Store Fixtures

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on CAD Detailer to produce accurate, fabrication-ready shop drawings for custom retail store fixtures and related architectural products. This role works closely with estimating, account management and the manufacturing floor to take projects from customer concepts through detailed production drawings.

Key Responsibilities

- Create detailed 2D and 3D shop drawings using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
- Convert customer sketches, conceptual drawings, specifications and existing designs into clear, production-ready drawings.
- Develop drawings and details suitable for CNC operators, millworkers and fabrication teams.
- Ensure drawings accurately reflect dimensions, materials, construction methods and customer specifications.
- Work directly with the manufacturing floor to resolve design, constructability and fabrication issues.
- Incorporate manufacturing feedback and lessons learned into future designs and detailing standards.
- Coordinate with Account Management, Estimating and Production throughout the project lifecycle.




- Review drawings for accuracy and completeness before release to production.
- Manage multiple projects while meeting aggressive production deadlines.

Qualifications

- Post-secondary education in Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, Industrial Design or a related discipline; relevant AutoCAD/SolidWorks certification will also be considered.
- 2–3+ years of relevant CAD detailing/design experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Experience with retail store fixtures, architectural millwork, custom displays or custom fabrication is strongly preferred.
- Solid proficiency with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
- Demonstrated ability to create detailed shop and fabrication drawings, not simply conceptual/design drawings.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, tolerances and constructability.
- Experience supporting CNC-based manufacturing is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under tight deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
