Please Note: This is a casual position from November 1, 2026 until December 23, 2026.
The successful candidate will be an energetic, empathetic, and student focused instructor with a demonstrated commitment to motivating learners and supporting academic achievement. They will bring strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, along with proven experience delivering adult education in a postsecondary or skills-based learning setting. Proficiency with a variety of computer programs and systems, as well as the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively, is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in classroom and laboratory settings
- Organize and supervise practical assignments
- Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials
- Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment
- Evaluate the learning process and provide meaningful feedback to students
- Respond to student issues
- Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications, and program promotions
- Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students and colleagues
- Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement
This position will specifically need to be able to provide lectures and demonstration labs to 3rd Year Apprentice Welders; Including: Theory of basic metallurgy and heat treatment of steel Destructive Testing theory and demonstrations (hardness testing, tensile testing, Charpy impact testing, creep and fatigue testing, etc.) Non-Destructive Testing theory and demonstrations (Radiography, Ultrasonic Testing,
Liquid Penetrant Inspection and Magnetic Particle Inspection)
Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive, respectful relationships with diverse learners and colleagues
- A strong commitment to student success, including motivating learners and supporting academic achievement
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, suitable for instructional, advisory, and collaborative settings
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and related educational technologies
- Technical ability to teach and demonstrate the topics above
Qualifications
- Materials Engineering Degree or Materials Engineering Technology Diploma, or equivalent engineering/engineering technologist level program
- Minimum 5 years experience in related industries would be an asset
- CGSB or ASNT NDT certifications would be an asset
- Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) or the Comparative Education Services (CES).
Remuneration $108.18/scheduled instruction hour
Classification - Instructor A This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement.
