We work directly with builders, code officials and fire prevention officers to develop cost-effective fire-retardant treatments that exceed fire code requirements. BarrierTek has been at the forefront of developing fire protectants for wood structures since 2010.

We're looking for an energetic and experienced Production Line Labourer to join us in our rapid-paced, team oriented work environment, working on a casual, part-time basis with other staff members to ensure that all daily production needs are met. They will be responsible for communicating progress to supervisors and fellow employees, as well as following clear work standards and providing feedback in a timely manner.

Duties The Casual Production Line Labourer supports the safe and efficient operation of a manufacturing line that applies coatings to lumber products. The role involves loading lumber onto conveyor belts, monitoring its movement through the coating system, inspecting coated products, and preparing finished lumber for handling or shipment. Careful attention to coating coverage, product quality, safety procedures, and production requirements is essential.

Key Responsibilities

- Line Loading and Material Handling: Safely receive, sort, and load lumber onto conveyor belts in the correct orientation and spacing; remove finished material and use approved lifting or material-handling equipment as trained.
- Production Line Support: Assist machine operators with line start-up, shutdown, changeovers, and routine production tasks; watch for jams, misfeeds, equipment issues, or unsafe conditions and report them immediately.
- Quality Inspection: Inspect incoming and coated lumber for damage, contamination, correct coating coverage, colour and finish consistency, missed areas, runs, drips, and other defects; identify and separate non-conforming product according to procedure.
- Product Handling and Documentation: Stack, bundle, label,



and stage finished lumber to prevent damage or coating transfer; complete required production and quality records accurately and promptly.
- Housekeeping and Safety: Keep conveyors, workstations, floors, and surrounding areas clean and organized; manage coating-related waste and spills according to site procedures and follow all lockout, guarding, chemical-handling, and emergency requirements.

Job Requirements

- Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Previous manufacturing, lumber, conveyor-line, or industrial experience is an asset, but training may be provided. Forklift Certification is an asset.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive tasks; and safely lift and handle materials weighing up to 23 kg (50 lb). Must pass a pre-employment Fitness Test through Sure Hire.
- Skills and Attention to Detail: Ability to follow work orders, product specifications, quality standards, and verbal or written instructions; communicate clearly with team members; and identify defects or process changes quickly.
- Safety and Protective Equipment: Must follow all safety rules and wear required personal protective equipment, which includes steel-toed footwear, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and respiratory protection where required.

Work Environment & Pay

- Setting: Manufacturing shop environment with moving conveyor equipment, lumber, industrial coating products, noise, odours, and changing temperatures. Work may involve exposure to dust, wet surfaces, and coating materials within established safety controls.
- Shifts: Part-time casual, 8-hour shifts, which may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, or rotating schedules based on production needs.
- Pay Rate: $21.00 per hour.
