We are looking for a Chemistry Laboratory Technician - Fixed Term Contract in #106- 8255 North Fraser Way, Burnaby, BC V3N OB9 CAN. Purpose (Objective): The incumbent is responsible for providing basic assistance to the wet chemistry, instrumental chemistry, sample preparation and maintenance operations of the laboratory. Prepare media, chemicals and reagents.

Provide routine sample analysis such as moisture, ash, pH, sensory, etc. Collect, wash and dry glassware and other containers used throughout the laboratory and return to the designated locations in the laboratory. Conduct a residue test on glassware as needed.

Maintain the cleanliness of the laboratory and surrounding areas. Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) that is required to complete job responsibilities. Support corporate quality and continuous improvement processes.





Perform necessary tasks related to quality control parameters for the function being performed. This position has the responsibility and authority to identify departures from the quality system or test procedures and document such observations in accordance with the prescribed non-conforming system and notifies the supervisor. Adhere to all safety policies.

A diploma in chemistry, microbiology or food science is preferred but previous experience is accepted. A general understanding of the needs of the laboratory is required to avoid delays in sample testing or inaccurate results. The incumbent works in the laboratory with proper lighting and temperature control.

Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials will occur when in the laboratory. The incumbent works in the laboratory with increased temperatures near the autoclave and washer. The incumbent is required to wear masks, laboratory coat and insulated gloves when working with the media.
