Child Care Subsidy Supervisor Ministry: Education and Childcare Full or Part-Time: Full Time Permanent/Temporary/Wage: Temporary Administrative 1 Salary: $2,316.22 to $3,015.06 bi-weekly ($60,453 - $ 78,693/year) The Alberta Public Service works to build a stronger province for current and future generations. The Child Care Subsidy

Supervisor is responsible for the operational requirements of the following programs: Child Care Subsidy, Out of School Care Subsidy, Extended Hours Subsidy.

The Child Care Subsidy

Supervisor provides guidance, direction and advice to the Child Care Subsidy Assessors, and Administrative Support to ensure that program benefits are delivered within guidelines prescribed by program policy and procedures in a timely, accurate and respectful manner. The position is responsible for teambuilding, recruitment, training and ongoing support and supervision of staff. The client groups most impacted by the activities of the supervisor are applicants who appeal or call due to difficulties with a policy or procedure.





The supervisor communicates and consults with community stakeholders to develop strategies to best meet the diverse or changing needs of the community in terms of program effectiveness and program delivery. ~Supervision of Child Care Assessor staff ~ Support recruitment processes, orientation and training of new employees in all the roles supervised. ~ Establish unit and individual objectives. ~Monitor assessor's work to ensure adherence to program policies and procedures; interpret policies and procedures; implement and provide feedback on new policies/procedures. ~ Engage with committees to resolve policy issues or regional/provincial concerns; Review Appeals presented either in writing by the applicant ~ Lead in case conferences with Manager on complex or contentious cases ~ Contribute to continuous development of the Child Care Subsidy program and technical information database and provide feedback for future improvements. ~Provide Community Liaison/Partnership ~ Develop and maintain network of contacts with other agencies such as, Income Support, Child Intervention Workers, Family Supports for Children with Disabilities Workers, Fraud, Daycare and Family Day Home operators to facilitate service delivery. ~ Champion understanding of program philosophies, policies and procedures through participation in speaking engagements within the community and/or other stakeholder departments. ~Respond to applicant issues, calls from community, MLA offices, Action Requests and inquiries from Minister's Office, Auditor General and other stakeholders. ~Analyze higher level financial information such as business financial statements,



corporate and proprietorship income tax returns, investment income statements; personal and corporate Income tax to determine eligibility for subsidy.

Creative Problem Solving In addition to the minimum qualifications, the following knowledge, skills, and experience would be considered strong assets: Comprehensive knowledge of childcare subsidy programs, policies, and regulatory requirements. Extensive knowledge of childcare subsidy programs, services, and supports. In-depth knowledge of Assessor and Administrative Support functions.

Knowledge of childcare provider agreements and regulatory requirements. Advanced knowledge of financial analysis, accounting, and tax documentation. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Awareness of social barriers, human behaviour, family dynamics, and wellness issues.

Interviewing /Communication/Presentation/Public speaking abilities. This role is eligible for full-time work from home The final candidate for this position will undergo an academic check and provide a suitable security screening. Applicants being considered for this position will be required to complete a Level 2 enhanced security screening as part of the pre-employment checks for this position.

We will accept criminal records check (CRC) which have been completed within the last six months as per policy.
