The Salvation

Under the direction of the Christmas Campaign Coordinator, the Volunteer Coordinator will work in cooperation with The Christmas Campaign and Toy Drive Coordinators to ensure a full volunteer roster and oversee volunteers involved in a variety of roles, including application intake with households, hamper and toy sorting, working in the toy centre, setup of the shopping area, greeters, and personal shoppers during distribution. Recruit volunteers through online postings, community outreach, and existing volunteer networks.

Conduct orientations and training sessions tailored to specific volunteer roles. Scheduling & Supervision Act as the main point of contact for volunteers, providing on-site support, direction,



and problem-solving as needed. Communication & Engagement Maintain ongoing communication with volunteers via email, phone, and in-person check-ins.

Assist in logistics for Toy Centre setup, hamper distribution, and overall site organization. Support overall Christmas Campaign operations as required. This is a Temporary full-time position Minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience working in community-based programs would be a definite asset.

Experience in office administration.

Experience with general office equipment and must have strong skills and experience using word processing (WORD); spread sheet use (EXCEL). Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced office setting; Lead by example, by demonstrating a robust work ethic and a willingness to learn and be flexible in the face of change. Exhibit good listening skills, have strong oral/written communication skills.

Work in compliance with OH&S; Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures. Attentive listening skills for the purpose of supervision, coaching, and conflict resolution. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
