The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle

Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to other.

The Christmas

Fundraising – Assistant Coordinator (Kettles) position is a short-term contract position. The successful candidate is responsible for oversight of several Christmas Kettle locations in a given geographical zone area. They organize, direct, and supervise the work performed by Christmas Kettle Campaign Workers.

They will also ensure adequate staffing is met prior to and during each shift. Working alongside our Christmas Coordinator. Attend a day of training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign.

Provide support in getting Kettles to zone locations prior to staff and/or volunteer’s arrival at Campaign onset. Ensure all Kettle donations are delivered to secure location at shift completion. Supervise, support and assign (as required) staff and/or volunteers throughout the Campaign.

Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently. Remain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved), ensuring security of donations received. Promote, coordinate, and oversee the activities of Christmas Kettle Campaign Worker staff and/or volunteers.





Oversee the operations of the Christmas Kettle campaign including scheduling of staff and/or volunteers. Orientation and performance management of kettle worker staff and/or volunteers. Foster and maintain positive working relationships with kettle sites.

Coordinate the delivery and pick-up of kettles to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donations; Record statistical data and prepare weekly time sheets as required. Financial and Materials Management ~ This is a temporary position. Shifts may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday.

Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break.

Work environment is typically in office/malls/stores Standing for long periods will be required and exposure to cold weather Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification. Local travel is associated with this position. Some high school coursework, completion of high school is an asset. A minimum of one year of related experience or working in customer service. Money handling experience is an asset.

Experience in office administration.

Experience with general office equipment and must have strong skills and experience using word processing (WORD); spread sheet use (EXCEL). Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced office setting; Enthusiastic Team Player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong customer service skills; Exhibit positive listening skills, have strong oral/written communication skills.

Work in compliance with OH&S; Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures. Attentive listening skills for supervision, coaching, and conflict resolution. Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
