We collect food waste and by-products from food producers, like farms, restaurants, bakeries and even supermarkets, transforming them into ingredients used in animal feed, renewable energy and thousands of other products we use every day. Our efforts contribute to a sustainable local food supply, and help us all live in cleaner and healthier communities.Based out of our Saskatoon Plant, we are hiring a full-time Class 1 Driver & Fleet Support to be a part of our team. The Class 1 Driver - Fleet Support person is responsible for safely operating company vehicles while following instructions or scheduled routes from the Fleet Dispatcher and Fleet Superintendent.
The role requires the delivery of exceptional customer service when servicing used cooking oil customers. Often viewed as the face of the company, drivers are expected to act professionally both on the road and at locations of service when dealing with customers and the public. This is a full-time, permanent position for 40 hours per week.
Continuous in-house training opportunities available – all our new drivers are provided hydraulic equipment training during onboarding Comprehensive compensation package offered to full-time employees including employer-paid extended health benefits Take a look at our About Us video here: Fleet Support Drive company vehicles to third party vendors for repairs and maintenance as assigned by the fleet dispatch planner, truck shop, or fleet superintendent Perform general tasks around the plant and truck shop including sweeping the floor, delivering bins, building bins and small jobs assigned by the truck shop Provide relief driving in case of an emergency or driver shortage.
Work overtime as instructed to ensure minimal downtime of equipment Drive scheduled routes to appointed customer destinations based on instructions from the Fleet Dispatcher and/or Fleet Superintendent Pick up high volumes of material from various locations which include processors, abattoirs, packing houses, butcher shops, supermarkets, retailers, etc., while following strict guidelines for specified risk material handling Monitor Raw material loads from customers into containers or trailers, and unload raw material loads from trucks and trailers as per pit dumping rules Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections Load materials from customers and customer locations Unload materials at transfer stations Ensure the protected and proper handling of raw material picked-up from customers As per Receiving and Processing Used Cooking Oils standard operating procedures, pick up used cooking oil from bins, barrels, Frontline, and other customer bulk cooking oil tanks Ensure site is clean prior to and after departure when collecting used cooking oil Report issues or concerns related to vehicle maintenance, damaged containers and/or equipment or Customer to the Fleet Maintenance / Dispatcher in a timely manner Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections Follow safety protocols and other procedures as dictated by WCRL or the customer’s requirements Perform shift work based on company business needs which evolve and change in response to customer demands Possession of a valid Class 1 Driver’s Licence with a clean abstract ~3 years of experience in commercial truck driving or a similar environment an asset ~ Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, with excellent communication skills ~ Adaptable to adverse conditions including confined space, heights, cold weather, odours and animal by-products
