This is an ongoing casual position. Reporting to the Custodial Supervisor, a Casual Cleaner must be available to work various scheduled shifts that include days, afternoons, weekends and midnights to support the operational needs of Custodial Services. These casual positions provide future opportunities for full-time, permanent positions.

As a Casual Cleaner, you may be scheduled 40 hours per week, when required.

The Casual Cleaner will: Clean, wash, dust, vacuum and mop both dry and wet areas of the University (walls, floors, carpets, windows, furniture, washrooms)

- Strip, wax, and polish floors using ride‑on and walk‑behind floor scrubbers, floor buffing machines, and carpet extractors
- Operate various cleaning equipment




- Understand the protected handling and use of cleaning chemicals
- Maintain compliance with procedures relating to infection control and effective cleaning methods
- Assist with event set‑ups and tear‑downs of furniture and equipment.

Hourly Rate: $25.03-$25.62* *Salary is defined by the CUPE 1295 Collective Agreement Casual employees will only be entitled to receive benefits in instances where they are employed for sixty (60) consecutive working days on a full-time schedule or sixty (60) cumulative working days over a ninety (90) day working day period.
