Position Overview The Government of Nova Scotia – NS Housing Corporation is seeking a Clerk 1 / Receptionist (ADM02) for a temporary backfill assignment in Recent Glasgow, NS.
The successful candidate will provide general clerical and reception support while following established procedures and maintaining a high level of accuracy, professionalism, and attention to detail. This position involves regular interaction with the public and internal staff and requires someone who can efficiently perform routine administrative tasks under direct supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist members of the public in a professional and courteous manner.
- Answer and direct incoming telephone calls using the office switchboard.
- Receive visitors and provide appropriate information or direction.
- Prepare, format, organize, and file correspondence and other routine documentation.
- Maintain accurate and organized paper and electronic files in accordance with established procedures.
- Order and coordinate supplies required for various office equipment and administrative activities.
- Receive, sort, and distribute incoming correspondence and mail.
- Deliver and distribute inter-office mail as required.
- Perform routine clerical and administrative tasks using defined and established methods and procedures.
- Ensure clerical work is completed accurately and efficiently.
- Follow established workplace procedures and instructions under direct supervision.
- Provide general administrative support to the office as required.
Requirements
Mandatory Qualifications & Requirements
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Grade XI education or equivalent.
- Related clerical/reception experience, OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to perform standardized clerical tasks using established methods and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to perform clerical duties under direct supervision.
- Ability to interact professionally with the public, visitors, and internal staff.
- Ability to perform reception duties, including greeting the public and operating/directing calls through a switchboard.
- Ability to prepare and file correspondence.
- Ability to assist with office supply ordering and routine office administration.
- Ability to handle and distribute inter-office mail.
