The Clinical Director provides experience-based mentoring, guidance, and advice on operational processes and practices to personnel and is responsible for the direction and coordination of nursing services. The Clinical Director leads and manages the Care Team in Continuing Care Home Type B Level 3 and 4. This is a 12–18 month contract position.

Essential Functions:

· Direct and coordinate quality improvement programs to regularly evaluate and improve continuing care health services.

· Supervise, coordinate, and manage the performance of HCAs and LPNs.

· Participate in the department’s on-call rotation, carry the designated on-call phone, and respond to departmental needs outside of regular working hours.

· Respond to staff call-ins and staffing shortages, ensure appropriate shift coverage, and personally cover shifts when HCAs or LPNs are unable to attend and replacement staff cannot be secured.

· Implement infection control measures, including AHS’s Outbreak Management Protocol.

· Ensure personnel follow documented care plans.

· Comply with the approved AHS placement processes.

· Work collaboratively with the case managers and other care professionals to ensure adherence to operational processes.

· Participate in nursing assessments and interventions, care planning, prescribed treatments, medication administration, treatment evaluation, and monitoring/documentation of treatment progress and patient/resident response.

· Act as an advocate, coordinator and liaison for the resident, identify needs, and set priorities in collaboration with case managers.

· Establish positive relationships with residents and their families.

· Complete required information necessary for the admission or transfer of a resident and ongoing documentation as residents’ care needs change.





· Ensure that the resident and/or family members are involved, where appropriate in decisions affecting the resident’s care.

· Communicate with families, physicians, pharmacy and outside community health care agencies.

· Respect and preserve the privacy, confidentiality and security of health care and employee information at all times.

General Responsibilities:

· Maintain knowledge of and comply with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, while continually seeking learning opportunities to enhance knowledge in relevant fields of work.

· Participate, in good faith and to the best of their ability, in all training and development programs, as assigned by VDHF.

· Maintain knowledge of and comply with all VDHF policies and procedures.

· All other duties as assigned by the CAO.

Education and Experience:

· Licensed Practical Nurse or a Registered Nurse

· Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) or College of LPN’s and HCA’s of Alberta (CLHA)

· 3 years of Managerial experience in Continuing Care Setting is an asset

· Experience preferred working in a Supportive Living Level 3 (DSL3) or Supportive Living Level 4 (DSL4, DSL4D) environment

· Knowledge of Accommodation Standard and Continuing Care Standards

· Must possess excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with residents and staff members.

Pay: $80,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
