Reporting to the Director of Community Engagement, the 3 Month Term Communications Manager plans, coordinates and implements our communications and public relations strategies. Responsible for creative support for the organization in all areas of media relations, external communications, public engagement initiatives, the corporate website, social media strategy and content. You will research, coordinate, write, edit and produce a wide variety of internal/eternal communications.

Assist the Director of Community Engagement with the ongoing development and implementation of the public engagement/communications 'tool kit' and templates to assist departments in their communication efforts. The ideal candidate will have the ability to obtain a qualified certification from the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. A minimum 2 years of experience in a communications/public engagement position in a government setting.





Knowledge of project management principal Strong organizational and planning skills An understanding of key issues and requirements for communication in a local government context. Strong speaking, writing and editing skills with the ability to write in a variety of styles and media, including business-to-business communications and other corporate communications. A strong understanding of digital communication strategies and fluency with core social media channels (FaceBook, Twitter, Linkedin and Instagram).

Demonstrated success in the development of participatory models of engagement using online resources, discussion forums and social media initiatives. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings an weekends. The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a satisfactory police information check and hold a minimum Class 5 Drivers’ Licence as a condition of employment.
