The Communications

Officer is responsible for delivering a range of internal and external communications functions, products and services developed to support Rocky View Schools’ (RVS) goals and objectives.

Officer creates messaging, conducts media monitoring, prepares division newsletters, provides event support, website support, and executes communications plans. Assists with planning, initiating, implementing and evaluating internal and external communication programs Researches, writes and edits a broad range of internal and external communications materials and content Contributes to the ongoing review and update of both the internal and corporate websites to ensure quality and accuracy of information Provides team/client counsel to understand communications objectives and make recommendations on approaches and communications strategies Assists with team member training needs on communications platforms and technologies Supports Executive and Board members on communications approaches with support from the Director Provides a range of event support on a variety of RVS events Supports daily media monitoring and other research to track for RVS stories,



relevant issues and perceptions Support community engagement plans, tools, data collection and analysis and communication Education/Experience Bachelor’s degree in communication, with specialization in journalism, public relations or related field Minimum of three years’ related experience in communications Previous experience within a school division would be considered an asset An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered Demonstrated skills in interpersonal communication and public relations Demonstrated event planning and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously Experience creating digital communications assets, including graphics, presentations, infographics, video and/or social media content Proficient writing and editing skills Ability to successfully work in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision High attention to detail and commitment to quality Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications Experience with SharePoint and Office 365 Rocky View Schools Benefits ~3 weeks' vacation pro-rated based on start date ~11 Earned Days pro-rated based on start date ~ Hybrid (one day a week, working remotely) with supervisor approval ~ Perks Plan (Extended Health, Dental, Wellness & Spending Account, Tax Free Savings Account and Registered Retirement Savings Plan) ~ Defined Benefit Pension Plan ~ Professional development and training opportunities The successful candidate must submita current Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check within 30 days of the start of your employment Proof of qualifications/education as required by the position including WES/IQAS evaluation documents for completed education outside of Canada.
