Take on a rewarding Community Cook role with House of Friendship, making a positive difference in the shelter community. Focus on meal preparation and kitchen upkeep in a supportive workplace. As a Cook in the ShelterCare Kitchen, you will prepare meals and snacks for individuals undergoing transition from homelessness.
This full-time role includes maintaining cleanliness and assisting with food donation management. You will work closely with program participants to empower them through culinary skills and community interaction. Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare nutritious meals per Canada’s Food Guide
- Sort and manage food donations consistently
- Ensure cleanliness in kitchen and storage areas
- Operate kitchen equipment and cleaning supplies effectively
- Mentor volunteers in skill-building activities
Requirements:
- Grade 12 high school completion required
- Valid Food Handlers Certification
- Experience in an industrial kitchen is beneficial
- Previous volunteer experience encouraged
- Ability to lift heavy items and work long hours
