SCOPE
Reporting to the Manager, Employer Relations, Partnerships and Business Development, the incumbent coordinates employer engagement and business development to broaden quality opportunities for students across co-op, internships, part time and full-time roles. The incumbent markets and promotes Concordia’s students to the business community, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), other industries, general public, and Concordia’s internal community with the aim of developing employment opportunities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for ensuring adequate co-op work terms available for students, developing employer relationships, conducting business and partnership development to develop pipeline of opportunities for Concordia students.
- Build and sustain employer relationships through scheduled outreach, discovery meetings, and follow‑ups; document interactions and next steps in the employer database; implement a balanced plan for portfolio growth and maintenance across sectors and hiring cycles.
- Plan and execute employer‑led events (career fairs, information sessions, networking, on‑campus/virtual interviews, career panels) in collaboration with the team’s Events Coordinator/Assistant, including logistics, accessibility arrangements, vendor coordination, day‑of operations, and post‑event follow‑up; track and reconcile event budgets and expenses in collaboration with the Manager.
- Implement targeted communications and outreach campaigns that increase employer participation and student engagement, coordinating timelines and content with Career Services, Co‑op Student Experience, Advancement, and Alumni Relations.
- Develop and maintain sponsorship packages for employer engagement and events, prepare materials and benefits listings, coordinate fulfillment. Route terms or exceptions to Manager for approval.
- Collaborate with the Co‑op Student Experience team on select site visits where relationship development or issue awareness will improve partner experience and future opportunity pipeline; align visits to business development objectives and agreed protocols.
- Proactively develop strategies and activities to help with student retention, in collaboration with other units as necessary.
- Maintain data quality and reporting by updating employer profiles, contacts, opportunity attributes, and activity notes in Orbis; produce routine activity/outcomes summaries and share relevant market insights with Career Services and Co‑op Student Experience to inform student preparation.
- Liaise, as required, with Co‑op Academic Directors to coordinate employer engagement related to program needs or curricular timelines, keeping touchpoints targeted to support employer relations and business development.
- Contribute to experiential learning growth by identifying employer projects suitable for course‑embedded opportunities and connecting potential partners with EL colleagues and faculty; treat this as a secondary workstream relative to core recruiting and employer relations.
- Perform other tasks in support of the unit.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, commerce, communications, human resources, marketing, public relations or social sciences with two to four years of experience in customer relationship management.
- Proven record in business networking, market development, relationship building.
- Strong business and strategic acumen and knowledge of strategic communications and marketing concepts, principles, methodology and techniques.
- Knowledge and understanding of current and emerging industry requirements and practices.
- Very good knowledge (Level 5) of spoken and written English; good knowledge (Level 4) of spoken and written French. Experience communicating in professional business community setting.
- Good knowledge (Intermediate level) of Word and Excel.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, to meet deadlines and to prioritize work.
- Good team player with the ability to set priorities and to multitask.
- Competent in program planning and delivery.
- Presentation skills; effective in a wide variety of formal presentation settings.
- Ability to effectively work with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
- Knowledge of university environment, culture, processes, academic regulations, etc. is an asset.
- Experience in recruitment,
and/or with co-operative education and/or work integrated learning is an asset.
- Knowledge of Montreal/Quebec employer ecosystems and industry associations relevant to early‑career hiring or project‑based learning is an asset.
