Corporate Accountant

Location: Etobicoke (Hybrid)

We are partnering with a privately held real estate investment and development group to hire a Senior Bookkeeper / Corporate Accountant. The organization manages a diverse portfolio of operating companies and investments across real estate and related sectors, within a private family office environment.

This is a stable, long-term opportunity suited for a highly detail-oriented accounting skilled who takes pride in maintaining clean books, strong documentation, and consistent financial discipline across multiple entities.

The Role

This position is responsible for full-cycle accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting across a portfolio of corporate entities owned by the principal and family. The role is highly execution-focused, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, organization, and timeliness.

You will operate with a high degree of ownership, ensuring that all financial records are complete, reconciled, and audit-ready at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Full-Cycle Accounting & Bookkeeping

- Maintain full-cycle bookkeeping across multiple entities using QuickBooks
- Record and classify all transactions, including expenses, receipts, transfers, and investments
- Prepare journal entries (payroll, intercompany, adjustments)
- Maintain and update chart of accounts

Reconciliations (Core Focus)

- Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
- Manage intercompany balances and loan schedules
- Reconcile HST balances and ensure accuracy of ITCs
- Track and reconcile investment activity, including:
- Limited partnerships (capital calls, distributions)




- Marketable securities (purchases, sales, dividends)
- Apply FX treatment for USD-denominated investments

Expense & Cash Management

- Process and reconcile corporate and personal credit cards
- Allocate expenses accurately across entities
- Track cash balances and support short-term cash forecasting
- Monitor recurring obligations (mortgages, insurance, utilities, etc.)

Financial Reporting

- Prepare monthly balance sheets and P&L; statements
- Produce cash summaries and support basic forecasting
- Assist with quarterly reporting packages

Compliance & Tax Support

- Prepare and file HST returns (multiple entities)
- Support corporate tax filings by preparing working papers and schedules
- Maintain payroll-related records and entries

Documentation & Administration

- Maintain organized, audit-ready records (invoices, contracts, receipts)
- Support year-end reporting, audits, and tax filings
- Maintain an accounting calendar for filings and deadlines
- Liaise with vendors and manage AP-related inquiries

Key Qualifications

- 5–10+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience, ideally within a multi-entity or family office environment
- Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel
- Proven experience with:
- Bank and credit card reconciliations
- HST preparation and filings
- Intercompany accounting
- Experience tracking investments (LPs, securities) is an asset
- Strong understanding of financial statements and transaction classification
- Highly detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
