CS 285-397 – Web & Database Programming
This course shows how interactive database-driven web applications are designed and implemented. Appropriate protocols and languages for web and database programming will be discussed, with a focus on client-server architectures, interface design, event-driven programming. information management, data modeling, database systems, APls. model-viewcontroller design patterns. Comparisons to development on other specialized platforms.
The semester is from January 6, 2027 to April 28, 2027 with the final exam period running from April 15, 2027 to April 28, 2027.
Expectations for Sessional Lecturers include, but aren’t limited to, the following:
- Preparing the course outline, designing relevant assignments, evaluating and grading student work, and submitting student grades by the required deadline.
- Teaching course content that follows the course description, established learning objectives, and university academic guidelines.
- Delivering lectures throughout the term at the time, days, and location set by the University.
- Encouraging and maintaining a safe and collaborative classroom environment.
- Providing regular support to students on course work during office hours, in class, and through email.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Master of Science (MSc)
- Demonstrated related experience appropriate to the course content description as listed above;
- Superior communications skills (both written and verbal);
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Recent teaching experience in a post-secondary environment is considered an asset.
Physical Demands Pay Grade Faculty Sessional Salary Range As per URFA Collective Agreement Status Term Work Hours This course is offered on Tuesdays – 11:30 am – 12:45 pm The Sessional Lecturer is expected to teach in person for each of the lectures and provide regular weekly office hours for students.
