CCIS (Calgary Catholic Immigration Society) is a nonprofit organization that provides settlement and integration services to all immigrants and refugees in Southern Alberta.Since our inception in 1981, we have been a community leader with solid experience in the design and delivery of comprehensive services for our newest neighbours. We deliver these services through a energetic, multi-cultural, multi-denominational and multi-disciplinary team of professionals who collectively speak over 80 languages. From airport reception to a first job interview, CCIS’s programs and services have been designed to assist immigrants and refugees through all phases of the settlement and integration process.
CCIS is committed to welcoming and serving newcomers of all races, ethnic and national origins, cultural backgrounds and religions, sexual orientations and gender identities and expressions. CCIS – Family and Children’s Services (FCS) Division The Family & Children’s Services division operates on a holistic, strengths-based philosophy to facilitate the integration of families and children into the community, enhance service provision to newcomers through community resources, strengthen families and the community, and promote the healthy development of children. CCIS, in partnership with Children and Family Services (CFS), is currently offering a Cultural Brokerage Program with the overall objective of increasing collaboration, engagement,
and partnerships with culturally diverse communities in Calgary and strengthening community capacity within Calgary’s multicultural communities.
To achieve this, CCIS’s Family & Children Services Division is seeking a Cultural Broker who speaks fluent Mandarin and is accepting applications from qualified job seekers. Act as the liaison between Children and Family Services and immigrant families Explain the mandate of Children and Family Services and system expectations to immigrant families Advise Children and Family Services on cultural practices, immigration challenges, and trauma Connect families with counselling, parenting, family violence, and other community services Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with community partners Enter activities into the database Minimum of an Undergraduate Degree in Social Work or a relevant field Experience related to child development, family violence, and/or abuse would be considered an asset Established knowledge of community resources and agencies that support newcomer populations Experience and ability to collaborate effectively with the community Preference will be given to candidates who speak Mandarin As travel is required, the successful candidate must have a vehicle and a valid driver’s license A valid certified criminal record check is required Make A Direct Impact on Your Community by Donatingto CCIS (Calgary Catholic Immigration Society).
