Reporting to Client Services, the incumbent is responsible for performing various preventive maintenance (PM) tasks and assisting trades staff in their daily work requirements. Accompanies and assists trades staff, project leaders, consultants and contractors as required Maintains and repairs non-electrical components of light fixtures (bulbs, shades, etc.) Conducts field audits to gather applicable information pertaining the creation and modification of PM routines Performs PM inspections on interior/exterior lights, exit lights, washrooms, doors and battery operated smoke detectors Follows up on deficiencies identified during PM inspections and refers certified trades work to Maintenance Supervisor, applicable trades person and/or client reception for action Cleans pits and drainage areas as required Cleans and maintains mechanical rooms Removes graffiti utilizing appropriate products and techniques Perform all duties in accordance with the current Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety Act as well as University and government rules and regulations High school graduation and 3 – 5 years building and maintenance experience required Completion of Building Service Technician course preferable Electrical and/or mechanical aptitude preferable Ability to work comfortably at heights (including personal lifts) and in confined spaces General safety, fall protection, confined space, lift operation and WHMIS training an asset Must be willing and able to work overtime as required Familiar with the current Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety Act as well as University and government rules and regulations Computer skills an asset Bargaining unit employees are given first consideration and will be notified regarding the status of their application.
