About the Role
C4Media, Inc. (HQ Toronto, Canada. Private. Established in 2007) is seeking a Demand Generation Specialist (contractor) to join our fully remote, global, fun, and friendly team, owning the digital marketing driving registrations and enrollments across all our product lines: QCon tickets, certification enrollments, and InfoQ Live registrations. You'll plan and run campaigns that convert interest into registrations, measuring success by registrations, cost per registration, and revenue — managing a full annual calendar of conference launches and cohort intakes on a repeatable, improving process. This is a hands-on role: you'll write copy, build audience segments, run email sequences, and report results yourself, while also finding new ways to reach beyond our current audience. Since all products share one audience of senior engineers and architects, you'll plan campaigns holistically rather than in isolation.
Ideal for a digital marketer who enjoys building repeatable marketing systems, is results-driven, and writes clearly for a technical audience — especially someone with experience marketing conferences, certifications, cohort courses, or continuing education at an events, training, or professional-development organization.
What You'll Do
- Own the campaigns for each product: QCon conference registration campaigns, certification cohort intakes from launch to close, and InfoQ Live event registrations. That includes the email sequences, follow-ups, ad campaigns, and recovery for people who start but do not finish registering.
- Write the copy across channels: emails, landing pages, organic social posts, ad copy for paid search and social campaigns, in a explicit voice for a technical audience.
- Plan and run the organic social posts that support each campaign, and create the posts and emails that speakers and facilitators send under their name, without letting approvals delay a launch.
- Build and manage audience segments and exclusion lists in our email platform.
- Maintain the marketing tracker and reporting dashboards. Report registrations, enrollments, cost per registration, and revenue every week, and act on what the numbers tell you.
- Run each campaign through a repeatable process, and continually evolve it.
- Coordinate your sends within a shared calendar and audience, and respect the contact limits that apply across the whole business.
- Develop and run paid ads across search and social campaigns for each product.
- Find and test a new source of registrations that does not depend on our current email audience.
Job Requirements
Professional Experience, Skills & Education:
- Excellent English proficiency (written & spoken) with the ability to communicate professionally with a global audience.
- 5+ years in digital marketing and demand generation with email and lifecycle work at the center.
- Experience running recurring campaigns to a number: registrations, enrollments, or sales. Not brand or awareness work alone.
- Hands-on ownership of email marketing (Brevo, HubSpot, Marketo, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, or similar): segments, exclusions, automations, and deliverability.
- Clear copywriting for a technical audience, in native or near-native US English, across formats: emails, landing pages, social posts, and ad copy.
- Comfortable owning reporting: keeping trackers and dashboards current, and reporting results every week.
- Experience working to a repeatable process and improving it.
- Able to set up, optimize, and report on paid advertising campaigns, including Google Ads and LinkedIn Ads.
- Working knowledge of social media platforms for organic and paid promotion.
- Adept at coordinating campaign schedules and managing shared audience segments alongside other team initiatives.
- GA4: comfortable with default reports and able to build simple custom reports.
- Comfortable working in Google Drive and shared collaborative environments.
- Committed to keeping your marketing knowledge current. You actively follow changes in platforms, tools, customer behavior, and best practices.
- Confident using AI tools to enhance your marketing performance. You use them thoughtfully to accelerate research, generate and test variations,
analyze performance, automate repetitive work, and improve productivity.
