Introduction
We are seeking a curious, hands-on, and proactive Intermediate DevOps Engineer to join our DevOps enablement team. This role focuses on exploring, experimenting, and validating tools to support our upcoming Bitbucket-to-GitHub migration initiative. The primary mission is to conduct technical research spikes, test current tooling, and build hands-on Proof of Concepts (POCs).
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Practical experience in software development, DevOps, or systems engineering is essential.
- Working knowledge of Git SCM, including branching strategies, pull requests, and source control workflows in Git, GitHub, or Bitbucket.
- Hands-on exposure to CICD pipelines, such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar platforms.
- Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Groovy for automation tasks.
- A curiosity and experimentation mindset is crucial for exploring new tools and technologies.
- Prior work experience at the client or in the client's industry.
Applicants must be able to work directly for Artech on W2.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Hands-on exposure to GitHub Actions, including creating custom actions, workflow automation, or building POC pipelines.
- Exposure to containerization basics, such as Docker and Kubernetes
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Conduct hands-on research spikes and build POCs to understand GitHub Enterprise features and migration tools.
- Experiment with GitHub Actions by building prototype CICD workflows and testing reusable action templates.
- Set up and validate integration points between GitHub and the current toolchain, including Jenkins, Artifactory, SonarQube, CDD, Jira, Confluence, AWS, and Kubernetes.
- Investigate migration paths by testing repository migration scripts and utilities from Bitbucket to GitHub.
- Write and test automation scripts in Python, Bash, or Groovy to interact with REST APIs and automate repetitive tasks.
- Document findings by writing clear, concise summaries, spike reports, and how-to guides.
- Collaborate with senior engineers, platform specialists, and developers to gather feedback on POCs and iterate on solutions.
