Digital Media Producer & Content Manager
Location: Fall River / Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia
Job type: Contract
Work arrangement: Hybrid, with regular in-person studio work
About the Position A growing independent media and public-policy organization is seeking a highly capable Digital Media Producer and Content Manager.

It is now preparing to significantly expand its production of interviews, commentary, short-form videos and other digital content focused on Nova Scotia, including housing, business, government, politics, culture and institutional reform.
This is not simply a video-editing position. The successful candidate will help identify stories, research subjects, prepare episodes, coordinate guests, produce recordings and manage the organization’s digital presence.
The ideal candidate is technically skilled, highly resourceful and capable of working independently without waiting to be told what to do next.
Responsibilities
- Research and develop potential stories, guests and episode topics
- Verify facts, statistics, quotations and source material
- Prepare episode outlines, interview notes and research packages
- Contact, schedule and coordinate podcast guests
- Produce and record podcast interviews and commentary

- Find and incorporate relevant B-roll and source material
- Publish and optimize content for YouTube and social-media platforms
- Manage social-media accounts and content schedules
- Update and maintain website content
- Monitor performance and help develop strategies for audience growth
- Use AI and emerging technology to improve research, production and distribution
The Ideal Candidate The right person will naturally pay attention to current events, public policy, media and technology. They will know how to investigate a subject, locate original sources, confirm information and turn complicated issues into clear and compelling content.
They will be comfortable taking ownership of the production process and bringing forward ideas rather than relying on a detailed daily task list.
Experience may come from podcasting, broadcasting, digital media, journalism, political communications, YouTube production, social-media management or related work. Strong self-taught candidates with an excellent portfolio are also encouraged to apply.
Applicants should have experience with the following:
- Video and audio production
- Qualified cameras, lighting and recording equipment
- OBS or comparable recording software
- Descript, Adobe Premiere Pro,
DaVinci Resolve or similar editing platforms
- YouTube publishing and analytics
- Short-form video production
- Social-media management
- Website content management
- Graphic and thumbnail creation
- AI-assisted research, editing and content production
Editorial Fit The organization’s content will regularly address government performance, affordability, housing, business, taxation, public safety, institutional accountability and the political decisions shaping Nova Scotia.
The successful candidate must understand and be broadly aligned with the purpose and editorial direction of the organization.
