In accordance with the Strategic Plan, and the policies approved by the Board of Directors of Community Living Elgin, the Director of Operations will oversee all aspects of operations. This Director will act as a resource to all people receiving services, families, support teams and the leadership team to enhance the services provided by Community Living Elgin. This role is a position within the Senior Management Team.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Strategic Leadership

· Advise and support the Board of Directors and its committees on policies pertaining to Service Delivery and Health and Safety.

· Work in close collaboration and partnership with other service managers to ensure a cohesive support system is in place for all people.

· Efficiently manage the human and financial resources.

· Review the overall performance of agency services against its vision and mission, and the identified service outcomes.

· Develop the department budget in consultation with the Finance Team. Monitor spending, ensure spending is within budget limits, and provide variance reports to the Executive Director and Finance Team.

· Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of Service supports and programs.

· Other duties in keeping with the Strategic Plan of the Agency.

· Working within and understanding the required policy, directives and reporting requirements of relevant government bodies/funders including but not limited to MCCSS, Ministry of Health and Family and Children Services.

· Working collaboratively with families, funders, investors and other partners to create support models to meet the diverse needs of people with developmental disabilities and dual diagnosis and their families.

Supervisory Responsibilities

- Provide resources, advice and direction to the management team.
- Directly supervises the Supervisors as applicable.




- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training direct reports; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- In accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act a Director shall ensure that supervisors and workers operate in the manner and with the protective devices, measures and procedures required by Occupational Health and Safety Act and the regulations.

Qualifications:

Education Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

- University Degree or Community College Diploma in relevant discipline or approved equivalent.
- Experience in Social Services and demonstrated leadership skills through at least five years management experience.
- Strong understanding, background and experience in Developmental Services.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point.
- Valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle, and the maintenance of an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to learn and utilize agency databases for the purposes of supports to people, agency staff, education/training and general operations. (AIMS, CARM, etc.)
- Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance issued by local police station within the last 12 months.

Pay: $40.00-$43.00 per hour
