Position Title: Drop-In Program Coordinator
Employment Type: 12-Month Contract, Full time
Hours: 35 hours weekly, Monday-Friday, 9:00 am to 4:30 pm- schedule requires flexibility, subject to change as per operational needs
Hourly Rate: $27.78

Position Summary
Reporting to the Supervisor, Teesdale Drop-In, or designate, the Drop-In Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the daily provision of appropriate services to enhance the quality of life and personal wellness for participants of the Teesdale Drop-In Program who are under/unhoused or navigating the effects of poverty, and to meet the evolving needs and interests of the Teesdale community.
Key Responsibilities
- Host and facilitate daily drop-in activities during operating hours, and facilitate effective ongoing communications between the community and the Drop-In program
- Welcome new participants with an orientation to the Drop-In Program, including a tour, overview of program activities, explanation of code of conduct, and feedback mechanisms
- Build trusting and professional relationships with participants to foster an inclusive, respectful, non-judgemental environment
- Support a welcoming, community-focused environment where meals and all resources are shared with dignity
- Provide, model and support regular conflict resolution, crisis prevention, de-escalation, and emergency responses using a trauma-informed approach
- Provide support, information,
and referrals based on individual needs.
- Identify community needs and interests to inform and develop programming
- Facilitate and assist in coordinating social recreation programs, informational/skill-building, and advocacy activities
- Facilitate and support effective feedback and program evaluation mechanisms
- Provide direction and support to drop In workers, volunteers and student placements
- Work to support participants’ and community’s ongoing and longer-term wellness
- Receive, organize and distribute program resources, including donations, and maintain related records
- Assemble and distribute harm reduction kits
- Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and attractiveness of the Drop-In space
- Distribute TTC Presto and Gift Card to program participants according to policy
- Accurately track program statistics and other data as required
- Participate in staff training, meetings, and community events as required
- Support cross-departmental collaboration, contribute with enthusiasm to WWCC initiatives, and embody the values of Warden Woods as part of our unique communities
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum one year of direct work experience with under/unhoused community members and/or people navigating poverty, preferably in drop-in and harm reduction service provision
- Post-secondary education in Social Work, Community Services, or equivalent training and work experience
- Strong communication skills (oral and written) in English
- Practical knowledge of housing first, harm reduction, trauma-informed approaches and anti-oppressive frameworks, including understanding of the systems of oppression impacting Black, Indigenous and racialized people
- Understanding and demonstrated application of equity, inclusion, and anti-oppressive practices
- Experience in conflict resolution, crisis intervention, de-escalation
- Experience in consensus-building, stakeholder engagement is an asset
- The drop-in is a hands-on, busy environment- frequent physical movement is required for this role- ability to be on your feet for extended periods, lift up to 30 lbs, reaching, bending, physical set-up and tear down of program is required)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and general computer literacy
- First Aid certification is required
- Food Handling Certification is an asset
- Knowledge of community life in the Warden Woods neighbourhood and Southwest Scarborough is an asset
- A clear Criminal Reference Check is a condition of employment.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
