The Electrical Estimator works within the estimating team to prepare, assemble, and submit tender prices for projects of varying size and scope. This role is responsible for developing accurate estimates, maintaining pricing records, and supporting the management team in acquiring construction projects. Their ability to produce accurate, competitive bids directly impacts project success and Modern Niagara’s growth in the electrical contracting space.
Prepare accurate electrical estimates and proposals for diverse projects. Support project teams with detailed cost breakdowns and planning information. Build solid relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
Perform quantity take-offs and enter data into computerized estimating systems. Assemble all elements of an estimate, including labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing. Gather labor breakdowns for budgeting and project planning.
Attend site visits, pre-bid, and post-bid meetings as required. Participate in turnover meetings with project teams to assist planning and budgeting. Review project schematics and collaborate on bid strategies. 5 years of electrical estimating experience. ~3 years of experience on P3 and Design-Build projects. ~ Post-secondary diploma in electrical or construction technology OR equivalent experience. ~ Livecount and Bluebeam considered assets. ~ Hold or be eligible to obtain Government of Canada security clearance.
Industry certifications such as Certified Quantity Surveyor or Certified Construction Estimator.
