SKY Elementary School is seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Kindergarten / Grade 1 Teacher to join our growing elementary school community.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a warm, structured, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young learners. We are looking for an educator who values strong relationships with students and families, enjoys working collaboratively with colleagues, and is committed to supporting both the academic and social-emotional development of each child.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the BC Curriculum.
- Create a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
- Support students in developing foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, communication, critical thinking, and social-emotional learning.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse student learning needs.
- Develop classroom routines and expectations that promote independence, responsibility, and positive behaviour.
- Assess, document, and communicate student learning and progress.
- Prepare learning updates, report cards, student portfolios, and other required assessment documentation.
- Maintain accurate attendance and student records.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and guardians.
- Work collaboratively with school administration, teachers, and support staff.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, school events, field trips, and other school activities.
- Support students during transitions, recess, lunch, assemblies, and other school activities as required.




- Differentiate instruction and provide additional support or enrichment based on individual student needs.
- Foster positive relationships among students and encourage kindness, cooperation, respect, and responsibility.
- Contribute to curriculum planning and school-wide initiatives.
- Perform other professional duties related to teaching and student support as assigned by school administration.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education or equivalent recognized teaching qualification.
- Valid British Columbia Certificate of Qualification (COQ) issued by the BC Ministry of Education and Child Care.
- Strong knowledge of the BC Curriculum.
- Robust understanding of early literacy, numeracy, and primary education.
- Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build positive and professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and support a range of student learning needs.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience teaching Kindergarten, Grade 1, or another primary grade.
- Experience working in an independent school environment.
- Experience with early literacy and numeracy assessment.
- Experience supporting diverse learning needs.
- Familiarity with BC reporting and assessment requirements.
