NOC 85101 – Harvesting Labourers
Position Summary
Farm harvester responsible for performing hands-on orchard work supporting the cultivation, maintenance and harvesting of apple, plum and cherry crops. This is a physically demanding outdoor position on a small farm requiring manual orchard work, crop harvesting and operation of agricultural equipment.
Key Duties
- Plant, cultivate, weed and irrigate apple, plum and cherry crops.
- Perform general orchard maintenance, including hoeing between rows and removing weeds.
- Participate in pruning, thinning, tree training, tying, fertilizing, spraying, irrigation and harvesting activities as required.
- Train trees to promote healthy growth, improved fruit production and fruit quality.
- Manually remove suckers and water sprouts from fruit trees.
- Cut, pick and harvest orchard crops efficiently and carefully.
- Examine harvested crops for quality, maturity and market readiness.
- Monitor crops for signs of disease, pests and other health problems.
- Apply fertilizers and crop sprays as required and according to workplace procedures.
- Clean and maintain work areas, tools and equipment.
- Perform basic calculations involving measurements, quantities and inventory.
- Follow workplace health, safety, food safety and biosecurity procedures.
- Perform other general farm duties as required.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of related agricultural or orchard experience.
- Experience working with apple, plum and/or cherry orchard crops.
- Experience with planting, cultivating, weeding, irrigation and harvesting.
- Experience with tree training and removing suckers and water sprouts.
- Ability to safely operate agricultural machinery and equipment.
- Basic English communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work and handle loads up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
- Valid driver's licence preferred due to the rural work location and limited public transportation.
- Steel-toed safety boots and work gloves required.
- Criminal record check may be required.

Employment Information
Wage: $18.25 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week
Employment: Full time, Seasonal
Location: Osoyoos, British Columbia

End Date: October 31, 2027
Schedule: Early morning, morning, daytime and weekends as required
