NAS is seeking a dedicated Female Community Support Worker to join our Nelson Group Home team in NW Calgary.
In this role, you will support individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, trauma histories, addiction concerns, and complex behavioural needs.
Using a Harm Reduction and Trauma-Informed Care approach, you will help individuals develop life skills, build independence, and participate meaningfully in their communities.
Please Note: Due to personal care, privacy, and safety requirements of the individuals supported, this position is open to female applicants only.
Key Responsibilities Provide holistic support addressing emotional, behavioural, physical, social, and medical needs
Support individuals experiencing mental health challenges, substance use concerns, trauma, and developmental disabilities
Implement individualized support plans and goal-oriented strategies
Assist with personal care and hygiene supports as required
Administer medications and complete accurate documentation
Support appointments, community activities, and recreational opportunities
Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive living environment
Complete incident reporting, safety checks, and hazard assessments
Communicate effectively with families, guardians, healthcare professionals, and community partners
Apply Harm Reduction, Trauma-Informed Care, and person-centered practices
Safely support individuals displaying complex or challenging behaviours
Respond effectively to crisis situations utilizing de-escalation techniques
Promote dignity, choice, independence,
and community inclusion What We're Looking For
You are compassionate, resilient, adaptable, and committed to supporting individuals in achieving their goals.
Qualifications Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Human Services, Disability Studies, Community Rehabilitation, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field
Valid Class 5 Driver's License
Reliable vehicle
Minimum $2,000,000 liability insurance
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to support individuals with complex behavioural, mental health, and developmental needs Preferred Experience
We are particularly interested in candidates who have: Minimum 1 year of experience in human services, community support, outreach, healthcare, addictions, or group home settings
Experience working within a Harm Reduction and Trauma-Informed Care framework
Knowledge of mental health, addiction, concurrent disorders, and complex behaviours
Experience supporting individuals affected by trauma, homelessness, substance use, or social barriers
Strong crisis intervention, de-escalation, and relationship-building skills
Commitment to person-centered support and continuous professional learning Certifications Considered Assets Standard First Aid & CPR
