Full Time, Permanent | Alert Bay Position Title: Social Worker Department: 'Namgis Community Services K'wak'walast'si Child and Family Services Team Lead Posting closes: The K'wak'walat'si Child and Family Services (KCFS) team is a Delegated C3 Indigenous Child and Family Services Agency within the 'Namgis Community Services department. KCFS receives its delegation through the Provincial Director of Child Welfare, providing the agency with authority to administer parts of the Child, Family and Community Service Act (CFCSA).

The Social

Worker supports KCFS's focus on prevention and strengthening families, with the goal of maintaining family units wherever possible while ensuring the safety and well-being of children. The role provides direct support, advocacy, referrals, and proactive strategies that promote healthy families and positive outcomes while helping mitigate potential risks. Provide direct support to families, including voluntary support services, advocacy, and referrals Help ensure children and families have access to food, safety equipment,



and other basic needs Assess and support family care homes and respite homes Develop and implement individual and family support plans, often in collaboration with MCFD Experience in social services, child and family support, or Indigenous community work Knowledge of the Child, Family and Community Service Act and the delegated authority process Solid organizational skills, particularly in case management and documentation Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with families, community members, colleagues, and partner organizations Bachelor of Social Work (BSW), BA in Child and Youth Care, or a related human services degree; Employment is subject to satisfactory employment references and a criminal record check Overtime and on-call work during evenings and weekends may be required from time to time Ability to work collaboratively with families, community programs, government agencies, and other service providers Pursuant to Section 41 of the BC Human Rights Code, preference may be given to qualified applicants of Aboriginal ancestry.
