About the Role:
As a CBRE First Class Operating Engineer, you will provide technical leadership, operational oversight, and support for maintenance and optimization activities while ensuring regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
This role is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of complex central utility plants, high-pressure steam systems, HVAC equipment, electrical generation, and associated building systems.
What You’ll Do:
- Operate, monitor, and optimize central heating, cooling, steam, and power generation systems.
- Provide leadership and technical guidance to operating and maintenance personnel.
- Ensure compliance with TSSA regulations, operating procedures, safety policies, and environmental requirements.
- Monitor plant performance through building automation systems (BAS)
and other control platforms.
- Investigate equipment failures and develop corrective action plans.
- Coordinate planned shutdowns, start-ups, and major maintenance activities.
- Review operating logs, performance reports, and regulatory documentation.
- Support emergency response and incident management activities.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on energy efficiency and system reliability.
- Interface with clients, contractors, vendors, and regulatory authorities.

What You’ll Need:
- Ontario First Class Operating Engineer Certificate.
- 10 years of progressive operating engineering experience in central plants, district energy systems, airports, hospitals, utilities, industrial facilities, or other critical environments.
- Solid knowledge of boilers, chillers, pressure vessels, pumps, generators, HVAC systems, and water treatment programs.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and BAS platforms.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Preferred knowledge and experience in.
- - Airport operations or large-scale transportation infrastructure
- Energy management and sustainability programs
- Emergency power generation systems
- Project management
