Full-Stack Developer (Canada)

Employment Type: Full-time, contract-to-hire

Location: Remote (Canada), with occasional in-person company events

About Us

We're a venture-backed startup building software that solves real-world business problems. Engineering sits at the center of how we operate: a small team, short feedback loops, and a lot of ownership per person.

Job Overview

As a Full-Stack Developer, you'll help build scalable, reliable applications across the entire stack: NestJS and Node.js on the backend, ReactJS and TypeScript on the frontend, Supabase and TypeORM for data, and AWS Fargate/ECS for deployment.

We also expect fluency with AI coding tools. They're part of how this team ships, not an optional extra, and we're looking for someone who uses them well and knows when not to trust them.

You'll work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to take features from idea to production. While this is a remote role, we get together in person for company events, and we expect you to join them.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain scalable applications using NestJS, Node.js, ReactJS, and TypeScript.
- Design and evolve Postgres data models through Supabase and TypeORM, including entities, relations, migrations, query performance, and row-level security.
- Use Supabase platform features (auth, storage, realtime, edge functions) where they're the right fit.
- Deploy, run, and monitor containerized services on AWS Fargate and AWS ECS.
- Implement serverless components on AWS where they improve performance or cost.
- Build and maintain effective backend services and APIs.
- Build high-performance, responsive frontend applications.
- Use AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar) as part of your daily workflow, and review their output critically before it ships.

- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, keeping system reliability high.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code.
- Perform code reviews and help hold the bar on engineering practices.
- Keep current with the tools and patterns that are actually moving the industry.

Required Skills & Experience

- Strong knowledge of NestJS and Node.js for building backend services and APIs.
- Solid understanding of ReactJS for dynamic, responsive frontends.
- Proficiency in TypeScript across both frontend and backend.
- Hands-on experience with Supabase, including Postgres, auth, storage, and row-level security.
- Working knowledge of TypeORM: entities, relations, migrations, and the query builder.
- Practical, day-to-day experience with AI coding assistants, plus the judgment to know when their output needs to be rewritten or thrown away.
- Familiarity with microservices architectures and containerization.
- Experience with modern version control (Git).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex issues.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team.
- Strong communication skills in English, written and verbal.
- Must be willing to attend in-person company events.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

- Proven experience with AWS Fargate and AWS ECS for deploying and managing containerized applications.
- Experience with other AWS services such as Lambda, S3, RDS, and CloudFormation.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
- Experience integrating LLM APIs into product features.
- Exposure to Auth0 or similar third-party auth providers (useful, though most of our auth runs through Supabase).
- Comfort working in an Agile team.

Pay: $90,000.00-$120,000.00 per year

Benefits

- Paid time off
- Work from home

Work Location: Remote
