SŌL Bakehouse is seeking a highly capable, experienced barista to join our team in a full-time role. We’re looking for someone who brings solid café experience, takes pride in their work, and can deliver excellent service while keeping pace in a busy environment.

This position requires more than basic drink preparation. The right person is quick on their feet, organized, dependable, and able to recognize what needs doing without waiting for direction. They work efficiently under pressure, communicate clearly, and contribute to a smooth, welcoming experience for both guests and teammates.

There is potential for the role to grow into greater leadership and management responsibility. Previous leadership or management experience is an asset.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare high-quality espresso, coffee, tea, and other hot and cold beverages consistently and efficiently.
- Operate commercial espresso equipment and grinders confidently; dial in espresso and make grind adjustments as needed.
- Steam and texture milk to a high standard and follow established drink recipes and preparation procedures.
- Manage multiple orders while maintaining accuracy, quality, presentation, and ticket sequence during busy service.
- Provide warm, attentive customer service; acknowledge guests promptly, listen carefully, and respond to questions or concerns professionally.
- Communicate clearly with guests and team members, including when orders are delayed or additional support is needed.
- Take ownership of assigned work and stay productive without constant reminders or close supervision.
- Keep the bar and front-of-house areas clean, organized, stocked, and ready for service.
- Notice upcoming needs and take initiative with restocking, resetting, cleaning, and preparation during slower periods.
- Support other front-of-house duties as needed, including taking orders, processing payments, serving pastries and food, and assisting with opening or closing tasks.
- Work collaboratively and help maintain a respectful, accountable,



guest-focused team workplace.

Required Qualifications

- Demonstrated professional café barista experience is required. Applicants must already be confident preparing espresso-based drinks in a working café.
- Practical experience with commercial espresso machines and grinders, including espresso dial-in and grind adjustment.
- Strong milk-steaming skills and the ability to produce consistent drinks during busy service.
- Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain calm and effective under pressure.
- Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, punctuality, and personal accountability.
- A proactive, self-directed approach: you see what needs attention and follow through without waiting to be asked.
- Ability to work a full time schedule that includes café shifts, mornings, and weekends.

Assets

- Previous team-lead, supervisory, or management experience.
- Experience helping train or support other team members.
- Experience with a café POS system, cash handling, and front-of-house operations.
- Interest in taking on increasing responsibility and growing into a leadership role.

Compensation and Schedule

- Full-time position
- Hourly wage based on experience, demonstrated skills, and the value you bring to the role
- Tips in addition to base wages
- Morning and weekend availability is required; schedule details will be discussed during the hiring process.
