You will be a part of a team that provides individualized therapy while also offering education in a small, therapeutic classroom setting. In CASA’s day programs, children attend as they would a community school. The family and care team work together to support the child’s social, emotional, academic and physical development.

Areas of focus include social skills, academic functioning, and emotional and sensory awareness. 27.70 to $34.87 per hour Vacation: 4.18 hours accrued bi-weekly Shift structure: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per day Temporary until June 23, 2028 Reporting to the Program Manager, the Occupational Therapy Assistant works both individually and as a key part of the interdisciplinary team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of the Occupational Therapist.

The Occupational Therapy

Assistant will contribute to direct and indirect client care for the treatment of children and adolescents with a variety of mental health conditions.

The Occupational Therapy Assistant will: Provide direct support to the programs as needed to cover breaks and when required to ensure child regulation and engagement within the classroom environment. Perform a variety of administrative and organizational tasks such as filing, photocopying,



laminating andscheduling appointments. Collaborate with and assist the Occupational Therapist in developing programming, materials and activities.

Robust interpersonal and rapport-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, patients and families. Knowledge of behaviour management strategies for children and adolescents. Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint.

Group facilitation skills are considered an asset. Therapy assistant diploma with proficiency in physical and occupational therapy, or physical therapist and occupational therapist assistant diploma. A minimum of two years’ experience working with preschool and school-age children.

Experience working in mental health is an asset. A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check. Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA) as well asphysical ability to perform all interventions.
