Take charge of occupational health and safety at ʔakisq̓nuk First Nation in this full time coordinator role. Focus on creating a thriving, safe work environment. Reporting to the Director of People & Workplace Culture, your mission as OHS Coordinator will involve the implementation and management of health and safety initiatives.
This role encompasses developing policies, conducting risk assessments, and training employees to enhance overall safety in internal and outdoor settings. As a part of the AFN community, your work will promote a culture of respect and safety. Key Responsibilities:
- Implement tailored OHS programs for diverse operations
- Conduct risk assessments and maintain safety compliance
- Lead training sessions and emergency response initiatives
- Oversee workplace audits and inspections
- Collaborate with departments on safety strategies
Requirements:
- Diploma or certificate in relevant fields
- 2-3 years in health and safety roles
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices
- Excellent organizational and communication abilities
- Valid driver’s license and commitment to community
