This is a full-time, one-year contract. Founded in 1894 and located on abeautiful 22-acre campus in midtown Toronto, Canada, Havergal College is one ofCanada's pre-eminent independent schools for girls from Junior Kindergartenthrough Grade 12.

The Groundskeeper at Havergal is part of adynamic team, under the leadership of the Grounds Lead, responsible for thedaily maintenance & operations tasks associated with all plantings andgrounds elements, and for the provision of support to other Facilities staff inthe performance of their duties relating to setups,
furniture moves,deliveries, etc., Routinegrass maintenance, cutting and trimming. Weedingand cultivation of all flower and shrub beds.
Markingand maintenance of all field lines for various games. Assistanceto the Grounds Lead in the design and installation of planters, steps, beds,etc. Constructionand/or installation of new landscape features, i.e. steps, beds, etc.
Maintenanceof existing landscape features, including irrigation. Operateheavy winter equipment (truck plows, skid steers, snowblowers, etc) to clearparking lots, roadways, primary walkways, and emergency exits prior tostudent/staff arrival on campus. Monitorschool grounds for ice-laden or damaged tree branches posing safety hazards,execute emergency pruning, and maintain winter wraps/burlap protection oncampus flora.
Maintainmeticulous daily weather and salting logs for risk management compliance Routinemechanical maintenance of hand tools, power tools, machinery and equipment. Deliveryand pickup of various materials and items in and around the City of Toronto.
Assistother
Facilities staff as required to provide function setups, furniture andequipment moves, parking supervision, etc. Minimumthree years of experience, ideally in winter maintenance. Extensivegeneral knowledge of landscaping maintenance,
plant materials and otherlandscape materials, i.e. interlock paving, etc.
Well-skilledin the maintenance and repair of landscaping materials, both living and inert. Ableto use small power hand tools for the performance of repairs and installations. Goodcomputer skills, experience in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook(email).
Frequentlifting, carrying and moving of heavy objects, including materials and finishedprojects in excess of 65lbs. Workingin dusty and dirty conditions with possible extremes of temperature and arequirement for frequent use of Personal Protective Equipment. Requiredto work flexible working hours driven by weather conditions, which may includeearly starts, extended shifts, and weekend work.
Neatand tidy appearance at all times with a requirement to wear a uniform, providedby the college, at all times when on duty. Committedto continuous career development through attendance at trade shows andparticipation in further education courses. We use an AI transcription toolfor note-taking during the initial telephone pre-screening.
This helps uscapture key details, with Human Resources maintaining full oversight and finaldetermination on all records.
