COLA*: Bi-Weekly - $480 The Indigenous and Rural Relations department is dedicated to fostering strong, respectful, and collaborative relationships with Indigenous and rural communities across the region. The team ensures that municipal programs, services, and decisions are informed by meaningful engagement, cultural awareness and a commitment to reconciliation. Leading engagement and consultation with Indigenous and rural communities.
Supporting cultural awareness and reconciliation initiatives across the Municipality. Developing and maintaining protocols that respect Indigenous traditions and practices. Providing advice and guidance to Council and administration on Indigenous and rural matters.
Advocating for the unique needs and priorities of rural communities. Partnering on community development projects that enhance inclusion, sustainability and quality of life. By advancing partnerships, supporting community voices, and celebrating the diverse histories and traditions that shape the region, Indigenous and Rural Relations plays a vital role in creating an inclusive and connected Wood Buffalo for today and future generations.
Under limited supervision, the Guest Services Representative is the first point of contact for guests visiting the Fort Chipewyan Aquatics Centre. The incumbent delivers customer service to all patrons and provides support to other staff as needed. All candidates will be considered for this role, however local applicants will be given preference.
Greet guests and ensure they are aware of, and following, facility rules and policies. Maintain a thorough knowledge of services, amenities, facilities,
and promotional activities of the Fort Chipewyan Aquatics Centre. Proactively seek opportunities to create memorable customer experiences.
Provide tours of facilities as requested. Data entry and filing, assist with event coordination, and other various organizational and administrative tasks and projects. Assist with communication between staff and the public as required.
Help to maintain the community bulletin boards, check areas, and report cleaning or maintenance needed. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Skilled, with the ability to demonstrate compassion, empathy, and support.
Basic to intermediate computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office, the ability to utilize the internet, and to quickly learn and use related computer systems. Knowledge of, or ability to obtain knowledge of, municipal operations, department functions, municipal bylaws, policies, and procedures. Ability to speak Cree or Dene is an asset.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
High School
Diploma or GED equivalent is required. One (1) year of experience in a customer service role which includes processing monetary transactions is required. Submission of a Criminal Record Check. As an employee of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, the incumbent is responsible for understanding and actively participating in the RMWB’s health and safety management system, and complying with all policies, practices, and procedures.
All employees must take reasonable care to protect the health and safety of themselves and others, as well as immediately report any concerns, near misses, incidents, and hazardous conditions to their supervisor. #
