Contribute to Alberta's conservation efforts as a Wildlife Technician specializing in the Hay Zama Bison program. This full time temporary role emphasizes engagement with harvesters, data collection, and community involvement. Located in High Level, this position supports senior Wildlife Biologists in managing the Wood Bison Conservation and Recovery Program.
You’ll coordinate bison harvests, engage with Indigenous partners, and assist in wildlife surveys. This role combines fieldwork with active community collaboration and offers a critical opportunity for conservation. Key Responsibilities:
- Issue licenses and registration certificates for Indigenous harvesters
- Conduct wildlife surveys and data collection activities
- Manage biological data for Fish and Wildlife Management
- Support conflict management initiatives with local communities
- Collaborate with Indigenous partners for conservation goals Requirements:
- Two-year diploma in Natural Resources or related field
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Experience in wildlife data collection preferred
- Familiarity with GIS and data management tools
