Alberta Health Services (AHS) needs a caring individual who is passionate about helping others. This key role has a massive impact on the well-being of our patients by providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care. You will provide personal care by supporting activities of daily living, assist in patient assessments and procedures, provide comfort measures to patients and their families, portering, delivering specimens to labs, some cleaning, as well as simple charting in patient’s records.

You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers as well as all members of the health care team. AHS is proud to be part of Canada’s first, and largest fully integrated provincial healthcare system, serving over 4.4 million Albertans. We are among Alberta’s Top 75 Employers and a top employer for young people and diversity.

With opportunities for career development, competitive pay and comprehensive benefits, discover a whole different professional practice - and way of life - in the cozy town of Edson. As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team, providing personal assistance by supporting activities of daily living and delivering support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this role, you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers across the continuum of care in home, community, and health care facilities.

You will assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation,

and safety needs; and observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under the supervision of a regulated health professional, you will assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while supporting effective communication with patients and health care professionals. Until a new hire provides proof of HCA certification, they will be paid at the uncertified pay grade in accordance with the AUPE AUX Collective Agreement.
