Description
As our Health, Safety and Wellbeing Business Partner, you will provide expert advice on Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) across the organisation to foster a culture that prioritises the health, safety and wellbeing of our people.
You will coach and mentor leaders to support team-based capability in managing safety and integrating best practice into everyday operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver the organisation's Health, Safety and Wellbeing strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and legislative requirements.
- Provide expert advice on workplace health and safety, risk management and wellbeing practices across all areas of the organisation.
- Partner with senior leaders to establish meaningful safety performance measures, including lead indicators, and provide data-driven insights to support decision-making.
- Lead the design, implementation and evaluation of health, safety and wellbeing training programs that build capability and accountability at all levels.
- Champion a positive, safety-first culture through collaboration, engagement and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and oversee risk management frameworks to identify, assess and mitigate physical and psychosocial hazards.
- Coordinate safety assurance activities, audits, inspections and risk assessments across departments.
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, associated regulations, codes of practice and organisational policies.
- Oversee incident investigations, applying root cause analysis methodologies to identify contributing factors and implement corrective actions.
- Manage relationships with external providers, consultants, training organisations and regulatory bodies.
- Support contractor management processes, procurement activities and safety assurance requirements.
- Provide regular reporting and insights on safety performance, emerging risks and organisational trends.
- Coach and mentor leaders to strengthen safety leadership capability and accountability.
- Partner closely with Talent Acquisition, People & Culture, Learning & Development and operational teams to embed health, safety and wellbeing throughout the employee lifecycle.
Join us in this full-time permanent role, offering a competitive salary range of $113,974.40 - $126,589.35, plus 12% superannuation and a monthly accrued day off.
Skills And Experiences
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Degree or Advanced Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Risk Management or a related discipline.
- Professional certification and/or membership with the Australian Institute of Health & Safety (AIHS) or a recognised equivalent (highly desirable).
- Significant experience (5-7+ years) in a senior Health & Safety, OHS or Business Partnering role within a large and complex organisation.
- Extensive knowledge of OHS legislation, compliance requirements, risk management frameworks and contemporary safety practices.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing organisational safety strategies and improvement programs.
- Strong business partnering skills, with the ability to influence, coach and support senior leaders.
- Experience conducting safety audits, hazard identification and psychosocial risk assessments.
- ICAM investigation training and practical experience leading investigations and implementing corrective actions.
- Strong analytical capabilities,
including the interpretation and reporting of safety performance data and lead indicators.
- Understanding of WorkCover principles, claims management and incident cost management.
- Outstanding stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship management skills.
- Local Government experience will be highly regarded.
