Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our shop maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty equipment and machinery in our fleet. Your expertise will ensure optimal equipment performance, safety compliance, and minimal downtime.

The ideal candidate is self motivated, energetic, detail-oriented, and possesses a strong mechanical background. This position is located in our Courtenay shop with a heated floor.

Responsibilities

- Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems using schematics and technical manuals.
- Utilize Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) for troubleshooting automated systems and machinery control issues.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities
- Read and interpret technical schematics, wiring diagrams, and system manuals to identify issues efficiently.
- Collaborate with team members to analyze equipment failures and implement effective solutions promptly.




- Extensive mechanical knowledge of heavy-duty vehicles and industrial machinery.
- Experience working with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and low voltage electrical systems.
- Strong understanding of industrial electrician practices, HVAC systems, welding techniques
- Ability to read schematics and technical manuals accurately for troubleshooting purposes.
- Excellent analysis skills to diagnose complex mechanical, emissions, or electrical problems quickly.
- Effective communication skills in English to document issues clearly and collaborate with team members.
- Customer service mindset with a focus on safety standards and quality workmanship.

Pay: $43.00-$50.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
