Overview
MACK Construction Services Ltd. is looking for a Health & Safety Advisor to support our operations across Western Canada.
This role will support the day-to-day coordination and continued development of MACK's health and safety program, working with both our office and field teams. The Health & Safety Advisor will maintain safety documentation and compliance requirements, support training and reporting, and spend regular time in the field ensuring our safety standards and procedures are being followed.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting the day-to-day coordination of MACK's health and safety program
- Working directly with our field crews, conducting worksite inspections and helping ensure MACK's safety standards and procedures are being followed
- Learning MACK's Safe Work Practices and Safe Work Procedures inside and out, and helping keep our safety program current as our work evolves
- Coordinating and delivering new employee safety orientations, training requirements and monthly safety meetings
- Preparing client and project safety documentation and maintaining third-party compliance systems including ISNetworld (ISN), Avetta and ComplyWorks
- Supporting incident reporting, investigations and follow-up
- Tracking training, safety statistics and other HSE information to help keep our team and management informed
- Supporting quality and compliance initiatives, including documentation, field observations and client requirements
- Supporting COR, audits and other regulatory and compliance requirements
- Working collaboratively with supervisors, field employees and management to support a strong and practical safety culture
As MACK continues to grow, this role will continue to evolve with our operations.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in a health and safety role within the construction industry, with preference given to candidates with utility construction experience
- Preference will be given to candidates with utility construction experience and/or previous hands-on experience working in field operations outside of a dedicated safety role
- Robust organization, communication and documentation skills
- Comfortable working with both field crews and management and able to build positive working relationships across the company
- Able to balance office-based responsibilities with regular travel to active worksites
- Working knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements
- Familiarity with utility construction, powered mobile equipment and electrical operations is considered an asset
- Experience with safety and compliance systems such as SiteDocs, ISNetworld, Avetta, ComplyWorks and Motive is considered an asset
- CSTS 2020 and Standard First Aid required
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence and clean driver's abstract required
Additional safety education or training is considered an asset, particularly ACSA courses such as Leadership for Safety Excellence (LSE), Legislation Awareness (LEG), and Principles of Health & Safety Management (PHSM).
