Human Resources Generalist – 24-Month Contract
Location: Wingham, Ontario - in person role Salary: $65,000–$75,000 per year

Are you an HR professional who enjoys being more than just a desk behind the scenes? We’re looking for a Human Resources Generalist to join our team for a 24-month contract and play an important role in supporting our employees, leaders and business. This is a great opportunity for an HR skilled who enjoys variety, building relationships, solving problems and seeing the direct impact of their work.
At Britespan, HR is highly connected to the day-to-day business. You’ll work closely with employees and leaders across the organization while gaining hands-on experience across the full HR spectrum.
What You'll Do
You’ll be involved in a broad range of HR activities, including:
- Lead full-cycle recruitment, from job postings and interviews through to offers and employment contracts
- Partner with leaders on hiring, onboarding and talent acquisition strategies
- Serve as a trusted first point of contact for employees and leaders on HR-related questions and concerns
- Support employee relations, performance management, attendance, accommodations and workplace issues
- Assist with the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures and programs
- Support compliance with employment legislation across the jurisdictions in which Britespan operates
- Manage employee records and confidential HR information
- Coordinate onboarding and help ensure new employees have a positive start
- Support training and development initiatives, including mandatory compliance training
- Manage WSIB claims, incident reporting and return-to-work processes
- Support workplace accommodations and leave-of-absence processes
- Participate in the Joint Health & Safety Committee
- Maintain HR systems, attendance records and HR-related reporting
- Develop and track HR metrics and KPIs
- Contribute to process improvements and HR projects that make our workplace more efficient and employee-focused
- Support employee engagement initiatives and contribute to a positive workplace culture
What We're Looking For
You’re someone who is organized, approachable, practical and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. You know how to balance employee needs with business requirements and aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves and get things done. Ideally, you bring:
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field
- 2+ years of HR experience, preferably in a Generalist, Coordinator or Administrator role
- Experience with recruitment and talent acquisition
- Experience supporting employee relations and conflict resolution
- Knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organization and attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
- A high level of confidentiality and professionalism
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience with HRIS systems and/or Smartsheet is an asset
- CHRP designation or working toward CHRP is an asset
