Are you someone passionate about using geochemistry to solve complex mine closure challenges and creating a lasting positive impact? We’re growing in the North American region and are on the lookout for an ambitious Intermediate Consultant (Geochemist) to join our dynamic team. This role is open to our Saskatoon, Calgary or Cranbrook office.
At Okane, we believe that integrated mine closure planning is just the starting point to ‘Help Create a Better Tomorrow’. Our work challenges the status quo - we advocate for meaningful partnerships with communities, including Indigenous rightsholders, and design solutions that create lasting financial, environmental, and social value. From early-stage planning through to relinquishment, we’re helping reshape the future of mining, and we’re looking for people who want to be part of that transformation.
In this role, you will work closely with our interdisciplinary technical teams on projects that span diverse sites with unique challenges to support the development of practical solutions. Collaborate design work and project scopes with multidisciplinary teams (ie: geoscience, geotechnical, mine planning, hydrological) to ensure optimized feasible mine closure plan and to gain consensus among stakeholders and collaborate towards shared goals. Preparing proficient technical documentation and reports for geochemistry related projects.
Planning and execution of technical tasks of moderate scope and complexity, including establishing work plans, schedules, milestones, and deliverables. Applying a robust understanding of metal leaching and acid rock drainage processes to evaluate geochemical risks and develop practical mine waste management, closure, and reclamation solutions.
Developing conceptual site models to support prediction of mine waste geochemical performance and water quality.
Interpreting static and kinetic test results and integrate findings into predictive geochemical models. Performing advanced data analysis, interpretation, and visualization to support geochemical assessments and decision-making. Preparing technical scopes of work, contribute to proposal development, and support cost estimate preparation.
Providing technical guidance, mentoring, and work direction to junior staff, technologists, and contractors assigned to project tasks. Conducting field investigations and collect mine waste samples to support geochemical characterization programs. Assisting in the development of laboratory testing programs and updating databases.
