International Admissions and Credential Officer (App. D/Temp. Appendix D/Temporary Assignment (November 2026 – May 2028) Hours: Monday – Friday, 35 hours/week Home Campus: Fennell (hybrid work arrangements available) Rate of Pay: Payband H (Start Rate: $38.09 per hour, plus 8% in lieu of vacation and benefits) We believe the rich diversity among our students and the communities we serve should be reflected within our workforce.

Reporting to the Manager, International Admissions, the International Admissions & Credential Officer manages the entire admission process, from initial application through the pre-enrollment stage. This role is crucial in achieving Mohawk's international student enrollment goals and supporting global education initiatives.

The incumbent evaluates complex and diverse educational backgrounds from various education systems worldwide. Using the International Assessment Framework for Credential Evaluation, the incumbent performs comprehensive and fair reviews of international academic records to establish program eligibility and suggests alternative pathways when necessary, fostering an inclusive admissions approach that emphasizes student success. The role requires the application and interpretation of institutional policies and Canadian immigration guidelines, particularly as they relate to college admissions.

The incumbent offers timely, customized admissions and credential evaluation support to applicants, agents, internal shareholders, and community partners. The incumbent undertakes research and provides recommendations for progressive improvements in admissions and credential evaluation policies, regulations, and guidelines that eliminate barriers to admitting qualified international students. Conducting a detailed review of applicants' academic records to ensure that the submitted documents align with the expected educational backgrounds of students possessing the same foreign credentials.

Verifying that submitted credentials are complete and contain adequate information to facilitate a thorough admission evaluation. Apply constructive, unbiased judgment to applicant assessments and recognize when deviation from policy is warranted, ensuring all decisions are grounded in verifiable facts, well-documented rationale, global credential evaluation standards and institutional values. Identifying barriers to college admission and recommending solutions to the Manager, International Admissions by researching potential alternatives to existing requirements.

Identifying potential warning signs in an academic record that may indicate misrepresentation. Authenticate grades online as required by using the online results checker offered by the International School Board or examination body, if available. Verify the authenticity of the applicant’s institution and academic program, ensuring they are recognized and accredited in the home country; confirm alignment with institutional, governmental, and international accreditation standards to support a compliant and credible admissions process.





Conduct a comparative analysis of the foreign qualifications in relation to Ontario’s education system and determine the basis of admission into the selected Mohawk program. Review incoming applications to ensure students' biographical data is correct. Verify applicants’ status in Canada, application type and their eligibility to study.

Flag incomplete and inconsistent student records or ineligible files for follow-up and move qualified applications to the next stage of review. Verify applicants' English Language assessments online and ensure that the required English thresholds are met within the assessment validity period prior to enrollment. After assessing an applicant's credentials, accurately record and post admissions decisions through the International SIS.

Determine whether the applicant requires a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) from the Ministry of Colleges and Universities (MCU), based applicant's admissions history. Ensure applicants are informed of Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) eligibility by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of PGWP-eligible programs and field of study requirements listed on the student’s study permit. Verifying that those enrolling in non-eligible programs have signed the college’s acknowledgment form prior to the start of their studies.

Determine the ranking order of eligible applicants by calculating and posting GPAs, test scores, upgraded marks and other selection criteria for competitive or oversubscribed programs. Adjudicate and resolve escalated, complex admissions issues/appeals and maintain notes on these cases. Research and review non-standard admissions decisions, communicate these decisions to the team and applicant, and track precedent.

Maintain proactive communication with waitlisted candidates to ensure continued interest and keep records current in the student information system. Support in the recruitment and promotion of college programs to both prospects and applicants by collaborating with international recruitment team and agent partners on college offerings and program fit, whether in-person, by telephone, email and open houses. Review and verify learning agreements with partner institutions to ensure alignment with Mohawk requirements and pathway program guidelines; Verify documentation for international sponsored students to ensure compliance with institutional policies and sponsor agreements, maintaining accurate records of financial guarantees.

Facilitate semester one refund and deferral requests by verifying student eligibility in accordance with Mohawk refund and deferral policies and IRCC regulations. Update the student information system to reflect the deferred program's new intake term, issue an updated Letter of Acceptance (LOA) with revised program dates, and determine if a new Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL)



is required. Interpret and explain refund policies and deferral procedures to international students and agents.

Handle challenging cases such as visa denials and late withdrawals with professionalism and empathy.

Knowledge

Sharing, Business Process, and Improvement Collaborate with the Manager and team to develop, update, and maintain departmental knowledge assets, including the Credential Evaluation Guide, process maps, and the admissions manual. Deliver training and presentation to staff on processes, policies, and systems related to international student applications. This includes developing training materials and providing ongoing guidance to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.

Monitors data and prepares reports to support management and attainment of enrollment targets. Maintains expert knowledge in international credential evaluation, admissions standards, and processes. Keeps abreast of academic program changes and changes in the international student program that affect enrollment.

Maintains a repository of international credentials that are country-specific for reference. A minimum of three-year post-secondary diploma/degree in Business Administration, Marketing, International Business, Communications, or related fields; or equivalent combination of education and experience. ~3 years of experience with an emphasis in sales, recruitment, customer service and/or Intercultural Communication. ~ Experience in post-secondary and English as a second language programs and admissions processes, including transcript evaluation. ~ Proven ability to perform effectively in fast-paced, evolving environments, with a strong commitment to continuous improvement and adaptability in response to shifting demand. ~ Mandatory computer software applications, Integrated Information systems/databases and Microsoft Office Suite. ~ Recognized credential evaluation training through World Education Service (WES) and/or ICAS) would be considered an asset. ~ Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility. ~ The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
