As the IT Portfolio Manager - Financial Analysis, you will play a key role in helping WSIB maximize the value of its technology investments. You will provide advisory support across all aspects of the IT portfolio, ensuring projects are effectively governed, financially managed, and aligned with strategic business objectives. By leveraging financial analysis, business case development, benefits realization, and portfolio governance practices, you will help drive informed decision-making, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement across the IT organization.
Working closely with area leaders and stakeholders, you will support the evaluation and prioritization of technology investments, ensuring initiatives deliver measurable business outcomes and contribute to WSIB's long-term strategic goals. Provide financial analysis and management recommendations, helping to demonstrate the value of IT investments and support investment approval decisions. Conduct in-depth analysis to influence senior leadership and drive data-driven, evidence-based decisions within IT.
Perform cost-benefit analyses and ROI assessments to evaluate project feasibility. Assist with financial forecasting, reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis using Microsoft Office applications, including Project, advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint. IT portfolio advisor for oversight on governance, risk management, reporting, communication strategies, including,
but not limited to: Benchmarking dependencies within assigned portfolios related to IT roadmap
- Contract Management, Quality Management, Procurement, and Legal
- Developing communication vehicles for executive management teams including risk assessment, dependencies, corporate goal alignment and budget Assess IT portfolio viability within appropriate timelines and interdependencies, including, but not limited to: Creating executive management reports for portfolio risks, budget, monthly status, recommendations, health checks
- Monitoring and advising on portfolio health check assessments
- Promoting integrity of portfolio processes with the PMO
- Advising PMO statuses, as required
- Facilitate the IT intake process including: Developing and supporting reporting and monitoring tools.
Support
Manager, Planning Management: Promoting continuous improvement through lessons learned and facilitating recommendations. Creation and generation of IT scorecards
- Planning for the 3-to-5 years ahead, consistent with the IT roadmap. Proving advice on IT initiatives that are of a sensitive nature (for example, IT outsourcing) as assigned: We're looking for a strategic and analytical professional who can combine financial expertise, portfolio management knowledge, and stakeholder collaboration to drive informed technology investment decisions. ~8 to 10 years of progressive experience in portfolio management, financial analysis, business case development, project management, or a related discipline. ~ CPA designation is a strong asset. ~ A university degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Information Technology, or a related field ~ Experience supporting large, complex projects or portfolios within a technology or business setting. ~ The ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights and recommendations for senior leaders.
~ Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is an asset. ~ Experience with portfolio governance, benefits realization, business case evaluation, and technology investment management .
