You will work alongside experienced network professionals on network infrastructure upgrades, equipment replacements, switch migrations, troubleshooting, documentation, and ongoing network modernization projects.
For the right candidate, this position offers significant exposure to the day-to-day work involved in supporting and upgrading a large enterprise network, with an opportunity to develop toward more advanced network administration and network engineering responsibilities.
Why This Role is Different
This is not primarily a desk-based IT or help desk position.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Work directly with Cisco enterprise network switches and related infrastructure
- Participate in live production network upgrades and cutovers
- Install, replace, patch, validate, and troubleshoot network equipment

- Work alongside experienced network administrators and engineers
- Build practical experience applicable to future Network Administrator and Network Engineer positions
Key Responsibilities
- Install, replace, rack, and patch enterprise network switches and related hardware
- Assist with staging and preparation of network equipment prior to deployment
- Perform copper and fibre patching and equipment migrations
- Participate in network switch replacements, cutovers, and infrastructure upgrades
- Trace and identify network connections and connected equipment
- Verify network connectivity before and after scheduled changes
- Perform basic network troubleshooting using command-line and network diagnostic tools
- Assist with switch port configuration and validation under established procedures
- Maintain accurate equipment,
port, cabling, and network documentation
- Label equipment and cabling according to established standards
- Perform network equipment and telecommunications-room audits
- Identify and document discrepancies encountered during field work
- Work independently on assigned tasks and collaboratively during larger network changes
- Maintain clean and professional work areas in active production environments
