As a Junior Software Engineer on the Message Spool team, you will work with senior engineers to build and improve the persistence layer of the Solace Event Broker. We use AI coding tools like Claude Code every day.

They help us build faster and keep our code quality high. If you are quick to learn, comfortable with AI tools, and like figuring things out on your own, this role is for you. You will help build new features for the message spool subsystem.

C and C++ on Linux, multithreading, and storage systems.

Development Tools: Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code review, and AI coding assistants.

Learning Opportunities: performance analysis, debugging complex systems, and making them more reliable and scalable. You will use AI tools like Claude Code every day, to write code, test, and debug.

AI aptitude: you are quick to learn and comfortable using AI tools like Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor to build, test, and debug.



If you have not used these tools yet, you are excited to start. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar field.

Solid foundation in C or C++ and comfortable in a Linux environment. Good written and verbal communication skills, for code reviews and working in an Agile team. You have used AI tools to speed up learning or shipping work, in personal projects or a job.

Personal projects or open source work that show you can drive something on your own. Modern C++ (C++11 and later) and the STL. Multithreaded programming and a basic understanding of concurrency. Familiarity with storage systems, databases, or file I/O.

Production C and C++ systems: work on systems that run in production and handle real customer traffic.

Modern development practices: learn AI-assisted development, CI/CD automation, and testing.
